Brian Quezada
My name is Brian Quezada, I am 18 years old and I come from a Dominican background. I was born and raised in New York City, Uptown Manhattan to be exact. The neighborhood I live in is dominantly Hispanic so I get to experience the struggles that some Hispanics go through. Seeing this, it made me grow up always supporting all Latino countries since I believe that we are all one. My family always told me to give back to my neighborhood no matter what, and in any way possible. Walking through the streets in Upper Manhattan, you see so many Latinos living in poverty and with no job. Is it because they are lazy? I asked a few of them before; their answer was that they have no other choice. They get no opportunities to get an education in the United States and they barely speak English. In the writings I have created, you will see how some organizations are actually helping the cause of giving back to Latinos in the United States. Starting with the youth since they are the future. The organization helps young students get their diploma and be successful in the future. How amazing is that? There is nothing better than getting a great education. I am a full supporter in helping Latinos in the United States become important figures in society. We cannot be left behind in the dirt. We must fight for our own justice and get the opportunities that more privileged people have in the United States. I will keep aiming for that for the rest of my life, even when I reach my dream job of becoming an FBI agent. I hope you enjoy the works of my colleagues and mine. Once you do, spread the word. It all starts with one person and it eventually can become worldwide.
